Rubella
Rubella, also called German measles, is a contagious disease caused by a virus. It is spread through the air or by close contact with an infected person and appears as a rash on the skin. It is usually mild; after recovering, people have immunity for the rest of their lives.
Rubella can cause birth defects in the babies of women who contract it while pregnant, so women of childbearing age should have a blood test to be sure that they have immunity.
