Women's Health
We want to help empower women to make better choices related to their health, including choices that enable them to experience successful pregnancies. Our women’s health products include rapid fertility and pregnancy tests, preconception programs, pregnancy risk-assessment and education services, as well as homecare services, and the nation's leading neonatal program (NICU Care Management Program) for eligible participants. Our integrated approach to supporting women before, during, and after pregnancy improves care management in order to promote better outcomes for both the mother and child. That’s connected health at its best, that’s our goal at Alere™.
Chlamydia
Chlamydia, a curable sexually transmitted disease (STD), often goes undiagnosed and can cause pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) in women and epididymitis in men.
Osteoporosis
Osteoporosis is a disease marked by reduced bone strength leading to an increased risk of fractures and is the major underlying cause of fractures in postmenopausal women and the elderly.
Ovulation
It is estimated that 10-15% of couples experience fertility problems during their reproductive life. There are only a limited number of days during a woman’s menstrual cycle when sexual intercourse might lead to pregnancy. The duration of the fertile period depends on the life span of both the sperm and the egg.
Preeclampsia
Preeclampsia is a clinical syndrome that complicates 2 – 8% of pregnancies worldwide and is the leading cause of perinatal mortality and morbidity1. Today, preeclampsia is characterized by the presence of new onset hypertension and proteinuria. However, both of these diagnostic signs are non-specific, appear late in the disease, and can be indications of other conditions2.
Pregnancy
Pregnancy tests are based on the detection of elevated levels of human Chorionic Gonadotrophin (hCG) in serum or urine, which is produced by the developing placenta following implantation.
