Research, Training and Evaluation Services

Research

Alere™ Wellbeing has a long history of scientific research. The Quit For Life® Program grew out of a randomized control trial funded by the National Cancer Institute conducted in the mid-1980s, and in 2001, we established a department solely devoted to research and evaluation. Today, our expert team continues to advance the field of behavioral medicine, establish proof for services offered by Alere™ Wellbeing, and discover innovative ways to improve the health and wellbeing of those we serve. Alere™ Wellbeing has conducted more than 35 clinical trials, 100 program evaluations, and has contributed to more than 100 peer-reviewed scientific publications. We have presented our results at national scientific conferences and published our findings in top scientific journals. Alere™ Wellbeing has the unique capability of conducting research that can be quickly disseminated and have an impressive track record of partnering with other research organizations to successfully secure grant funding.

Training Services

Alere™ Wellbeing’s multi-disciplinary training services team is dedicated to increasing the utilization and impact of our programs through healthcare provider training and system-level operational changes. Our team creates and implements evidence-based solutions for healthcare systems and government agencies to address gaps in their patient treatment and referral systems. Our services include online and onsite trainings, material development, meeting and conference development and implementation, and field-based outreach programs. Alere™ Wellbeing offers a demonstrated track record, solution-focused approach, and a broad range of expertise to ensure that clients’ programmatic goals are met with cost-effective, scalable, and sustainable solutions.

Evaluation Services

Alere™ Wellbeing’s evaluation services team assesses the reach and effectiveness of our programs through state-of-the art methodologies, data collection procedures, and analytic approaches. We have extensive experience evaluating the effectiveness of government and privately funded quitlines, assessing quit outcomes and participants’ satisfaction with services, promoting program understanding, and recommending modifications to existing programs to further improve outcomes. The team is large enough to have the resources to conduct rigorous and comprehensive evaluations, yet small enough to provide close collaboration and be very responsive to the needs of our clients.

Research, Training and Evaluation Services

“We are currently partnering with Alere™ Wellbeing (formerly Free & Clear) to carry out a large federally funded group randomized trial to evaluate two different approaches to disseminating the Texas Quitline. The staff have been excellent to work with and very responsive. We have recently collaborated on two grant submissions, and they were extremely fast and responsive in providing us with information needed to complete the budget. We have enjoyed our ongoing collaboration with Alere™ Wellbeing and look forward to collaborating in the future.” - Jennifer Irvin Vidrine, PhD, Assistant Professor, Department of Health Disparities Research, University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
